Worry Principle

Posted on Wed ,25/11/2009 by Patsy

I have many things that I worry about but I don’t think I am an excessive worrier for the most part. There are some things that do cause me to worry and usually it is those things that I have no control over that worry me the most. With that said, I am going to incorporate the principle “Co-Operate With The Inevitable.” This principle says that if you are worrying about something, stop and ask yourself if you can change the inevitable. If you can’t then you should just accept it and move on. This is something that would lessen the worry in my life. It seems to easy to just stop worrying about something but I guess the principle here is to accept what you cannot change and move on.

Yahoo!

If I had to single out one site as my most used, it would be Yahoo!. It is my homepage. I read the news, utilize the email, look up movies, and various other features that are all available on a single page. It was just recently that I have decided to give gmail a try. I must say that I do like it a lot. Once I have learned gmail thouroughly, I’m sure it will become my favorite web based email.

I visit many sites on the web but Yahoo! is probably my most visited site. Yahoo!’s design has changed drastically over the years. I like the favorites bar. It makes a lot of tools that I use easily accessible. I often read the news on Yahoo! and must say, I like the news section much better than I used to. This site has just about everything. I suppose it could be somewhat overwhelming for some. It is possible that I’ve used it for so long that I am very familiar with the site.

Practical Harmonizer, works-with-people; sociable, orderly, opinionated; conscientious, realistic and well tuned to the here and now. Having extracerted feeling as my strongest mental process, I am at my best when responsible for winning people’s cooperation with personal caring and practical help.

That is the summary of myself according to the MBTI. For the most part, I agree with the summary. I enjoy taking personality tests and things to help me better understand myself as well as others.

In comparing a conflict I’ve had with another, I tend to be very logical. I consider the facts and only when the facts are fitting together can someone change my mind. I can be very understanding and I can also be very stubborn. The conflict that I am thinking of the person is like me in a lot of ways; however, they are not a fact person. They like to be told what they want to hear and it doesn’t matter if it makes since or not. That drives me crazy. I will run through everything in my mind until I can make since of it all. This difference can make the conflict get out of hand.

Web-based Services

Posted on Mon ,02/11/2009 by Patsy

I am a web junkie… I use the web for many things. In choosing the web-based service that I like the most, it would have to be e-mail. I utilize web-based e-mail on a daily basis. I think it is the greatest tool ever. It doesn’t matter if it is for personal use or business use, it is a useful tool for both. Until recently, I have been a huge fan of Yahoo Mail. Since starting this class, I have began to use Gmail. I believe they both have good qualities; however, I am beginning to like Gmail more. With web-based email, I am able to gain access to my email from any internet connection. I can’t explain how many times this has been a blessing. If the email isn’t web-based, it cannot be access from any location. If anyone doesn’t use web-based email, I would definately reccomend it to them. There are some disadvantages to web-based email. If your internet connection is down, so is your email. But in my case, I can find a connection to the internet somewhere if the need arose.
Yahoo really needs to work on the email it provides to be comparable to Gmail. I really like all of the tools that Gmail provides. I have also utilized the calendar and reminder services. I love them!

Presentation

First of all, I think everyone did a wonderful job. There were lots of interesting topics.

I have always had a tough time speaking in front of people. I chose my family as my topic to help leviate some of the nerves. I do feel that this is a very big weakness for me. I get very nervous when presenting anything. I have even been know to ramble on rather than staying on track. I am proud that I didn’t do that on Monday. I was able to stay pretty much on track with a few minor glitches. I made it through my presentation and don’t feel like it was a failure. Being more comfortable around people is something that I need to work on.

How to Win Friends and Influence People

Posted on Mon ,19/10/2009 by Patsy

The most important relationships in my life are those with my family. No matter how good those relationships are, if there is something I can do to make those better then I would work toward that. There are many good ideas in the list and I feel that I practice each of them at some point. However, I’m sure that I don’t practice them all of the time. If I could make myself more aware and use the fundamentals laid out, each of my relationships would benefit from it. If I were picking one thing that I need to work on, it would be “don’t criticize, condemn or complain.” I’m sure that I am guilty of doing those. Sometimes it is very hard to avoid them; however, if I go about it differenlty then it is possible that I could avoid the tension that it may cause. I believe that I am a positive person but I also know that I will tell someone when they have gone to far. I am going to try hard not to criticize, condemn, or complain. In their absence, I will find a positive side and use that to my advantage.

One Tip For Personal Organization

The most effective tool I use is my calendar.  I use this tool everyday.  I write down each and every thing that I need to do today and in the future.  It helps me to get everything completed and be aware of what is coming soon.  Utilizing a calendar can be an effective way to organize your to-dos as well as manage your time.  It is a very useful tool that I highly recommend.

How Good is Your Time Management?

I utilize a calendar and to-do lists to manage my day effectively.  It seems to be the best managment tool for me.

My quiz results:
You’re managing your time very effectively! Still, check the sections below to see if there’s anything you can tweak to make this even better.

To start managing time effectively, you need to set goals. When you know where you’re going, you can then figure out what exactly needs to be done, in what order. Without proper goal setting, you’ll fritter your time away on a confusion of conflicting priorities.

I think everyone did well on the personal introductions.  For me it was scary.  I am not a good speaker.  I find myself nervous and tend to ramble.  There are a variety of personalities in this class.  When working together on a team it is necessary to bring a variety of individuality as well as common ground.  We all have some commonalities, after all we are all in this class.  I hope to get to know you all better and become more comfortable with you all as a group as well as individuals.  That would be a personal accomplishment.
