The Browser Wars resulted from two web browsers becoming commercialized and vying for control. In an effort to attract new developers they focused more on new features rather than fixing the problems that were already in their browsers. The backlash from the developers led to the creation of W3C who’s mission was to standardize protocols for building websites so that they would be available to more people around the world. The only problem with this is that the protocols were just recommendations and the W3C didn’t enforce their standards. After no changes were being made, a group of developers got together and formed the WaSP, and their goal was to make the standardized protocols requirements rather than recommendations. Using roadblock advertising and ridiculing developers that became involved with W3C who focused on making new features rather than fixing problems. Eventually Internet Explorer 5 came out which started developers on the first steps to using the W3C’s standards. WaSP the persuaded Netscape to delay their release of Netscape 5 until it had the W3C’s standards as well. This standardization led to the internet and web developement to become accessible to more people around the world.

Worrying
For the most part, i don’t have a whole lot of stress. The reason for that is that i know that things could always be worse. My time in the Army let me witness how some people in the world live their lives, and showed me a level of poverty that is completely unheard of in our country. I know that as long as i work hard, that i can succeed.
Although after reading through some of the principles i did see one that i’m going to try and impliment more in my life. “Count your blessings, not your troubles.” Lately ive found myself focusing on things that have been going wrong. I need to try and let go of the bad things and put more effort into concentrating on the little things in life that put a smile on my face.
I’m a INFP
After thinking about my profile I think that it actually fits me pretty well. Some of the attributes i strongly agree with, like adaptability and openness. I can adapt to a new environment pretty easily, acutally i get kind of antsy in the pantsy if i live in one place for too long! Another aspect that i agree with is that INFP’s are close, loyal friends. In my opinion this is my best attribute. I don’t have a whole lot of friends or people that i hang out with, but i’m very close to a few people, and i’ll probably be close with them my entire life. To be honest i haven’t had a lot of personal conflicts with other people. I’ve gotten into arguments over issues with people, but it’s never spilled over into attacking each other personally.
Favorite Website
If you google “The Best Page in the Universe”, www.maddox.xmission is at the top of the list. The Best Page in the Universe is a satirical website. Basically it’s just the creator, Maddox, writing about different things. He’s pretty offensive and coarse, and a lot of people are offended by what he writes, but you have to keep in mind it’s just supposed to be funny. The website is easy to use, it’s actually set up like a blog. He has his latest entries posted, and there are links to the archive where you can look up old posts. The Best Page in the Universe boasts 4 million visits a month, and no adds whatsoever. The reason for this, he says in his book “The Alphabet of Manliness”, is so that he can remain uncensored and write what he wants to write about. Theres not a lot of pictures or videos, but the hilarious content makes up for it.
Web Services
I wish i could be writing a blog about how i’ve become super computer savvy using one of the cool tools that we learned in class. Although i have been using google for quite a bit more than i used to, sadly that is not the case. The one online service that i’ve been using the most since we went over it in class is Hulu. Hulu is a web based service that lets you watch TV shows that you may have missed, or wanted to watch again. Im a big fan of some TV shows, but im not a big fan of making a schedule to include time to watch them. Most network sites, like NBC or ABC, have their shows available online, but them amount of commercials on them is infuriating. Hulu also has commercials, but there doesn’t seem to be as many. By utilizing Hulu, i can work on homework, or projects, or gaming at my own pace, without having to worry about stopping or taking a break. I can simply finish what im working on, and catch the shows that i missed the next day! I’ve also been able to see some new shows that i saw advertised and thought they looked cool, but wasn’t about to make sure i had free time just to see what they’re like. Although Hulu isn’t a super tool that i’ve used to streamline my efficiency, it has helped me in my personal time by allowing me to watch shows on a schedule that fits me.
Presentations
One of the things i’m proud of about my presentation was i thought i did a good job of speaking. I’ve never really been nervous about speaking in front of people, in fact i think i’m actually quite good at talking to an audience, and i always enjoy getting a chance to get a little better at it! I was also proud of not procrastinating on the presentation and working on it before the day it was due. True, i didnt completely finish the presentation till Monday, but i was still proud that i took time out of my weekend to work on it. Mostly i was proud of actually using all the skills that i learned in class, and making what i thought was a pretty good first attempt at making a power point presentation.
What i could’ve done better was time management. I rehearsed several times at home, trying to keep my presentation at five minutes, but i still went over. I couldve rehearsed more or tried to cut some things out of my presentation to keep it within the time frame, so i have something to work on next time!
Winning Friends and Influencing People
One relationship that i need to strengthen is the one with my ex-girlfriend. We’ve had an on again-off again relationship for two years. Currently we are not dating and i’d like to change that, but she’s scared that i’ll break her heart again. The main problem was i didn’t appreciate what i had and was scared of commitment. I love this girl and im not sure how to show her that she can trust me when i say i’m ready to commit, settle down, and get married. I’m hoping that if i use these principles i’ll be able to prove to her that i mean everything that i say. I’m going to focus on making her feel important, and it’ll be easy to be sincere about it because to me she is important, probably the most important person in my life. This is extremely important to me because i can’t imagine spending my life with anyone else, and i kick myself in the rear everyday because i didn’t hold on to her. Ive already told her how i feel, and she said she can’t give me an answer right now. So my plan is to wait and be a good friend to her, and hopefully she’ll see that i’ve grown up and am ready to make her my priority.
Helpful Organization Tips
One organizational thing that i do is i put my keys and my wallet in the same spot everyday. When i get home from school or just being out somewhere, i take my keys and my wallet out of my pocket and place them in a hat that is on my t.v. stand. Somedays i wear the hat as well, either way my keys and wallet always end up in the same spot at the end of each day.
Time Management
I actually did a lot better on my time management quiz than i thought i would. The only thing i really need to work on is my procrastination. In my own opinion my procrastination isn’t that bad, i always allow myself enough time to finish whatever i’m working on, and i never stress about homework or studying, because things could always be worse!
I don’t really have any neat tricks, or techniques to help me with time management. I suppose i do prioritize certain things. For instance, spanish homework takes priority over god of war II or WoW. I know what needs to be done before i start with my own personal stuff. I never work on something for a little bit, then go back to it later, if i sit down to work i’m going to work until its done. I think maybe the Army helped me with that. In the military the name of the game is “get it done, no half assin”. I apologize for the language.
So to sum it all up my method of time management is work on what needs to be done first, and don’t stop working until it’s done.
Fireworks
I’m not sure why, but for some reason i found this to be pretty funny. I was pretty proud of myself for this one, i’ll have to play around more with fireworks! I was just gonna make a bunch of shapes and make them different colors, but then i saw the little posable dude and the talking bubbles, i thought it’d be kind of fun to see if i could make a short little comic.
